Beijing - Pingyao - Xi’an - Chengdu
This tour is a great introduction to China, taking in the major highlights of the country. You will visit the capital, Beijing, and the ancient walled town of Pingyao, before taking the high-speed train to Xi’an, home of the Terracotta Warriors. The tour ends in Chengdu, where you can visit the Panda Breeding Centre.

Sightseeing today includes a stroll through Tiananmen Square, past Chairman Mao’s Mausoleum to the 15th-century Temple of Heaven, where the emperors prayed for good harvests. Visit the Forbidden City, from where the emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties governed.
This morning, visit the Great Wall at Juyong Pass, one of the best-preserved parts of the 2,000-year-old fortification. After lunch, visit the Summer Palace, a masterpiece of Chinese landscape garden design.
Take the high-speed train to Pingyao, one of China’s best-preserved ancient walled towns. On arrival, take a walking tour of the town.
Today’s sightseeing includes the Rishengchang Draft Bank, the first bank in China, and the Ming and Qing Street, a well-preserved ancient street.
Take the high-speed train to Xi’an, the ancient capital of China and the eastern terminus of the Silk Road. Visit the Great Mosque and the lively Muslim Quarter.
Today’s highlight is a visit to the Terracotta Warriors, discovered in 1974 by peasants digging a well. The figures are one of China’s most important archaeological finds.
Fly to Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province. The rest of the day is at leisure.
Visit the Panda Breeding Centre, where you can see China’s celebrated bears. Later, visit the Wenshu Monastery, a Tang Dynasty monastery known for its exquisite gardens and halls.
Transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
